Rice Design is a creative arts company specialising in bespoke artwork, private commissions, public art, community arts and creative engagement projects.

We work with individuals, families, organisations, schools, communities and public spaces to create original artwork that is considered, personal and designed to have a lasting impact.

We work collaboratively with clients from the initial conversation through to the development, creation and completion of the artwork. This allows us to create work that responds specifically to the brief rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our process can include concept development, research, consultation, sketching and design, material selection, production and installation, depending on the nature of the project.

Our community and public-art practice is built around the idea that art can create a connection between people and the places they live, work and learn.

We are particularly interested in projects that invite participation and give people an opportunity to contribute their ideas and experiences.

Bringing ownership to a local community to develop a public artwork, creating an installation that reflects the character of a place, or designing a project that gives children and young people the opportunity to contribute creatively.

The result is not simply an artwork, but a shared creative experience.

 

Rice Design & The Loci Club

Rice Design is also the parent company behind The Loci Club. Our creative programme bringing professional artistic practice into schools.

Through The Loci Club, children are encouraged to experiment, develop artistic skills, explore ideas and discover their individual creative potential.

Children involved with The Loci Club have already received recognition in creative competitions, including entering The Global Canvas recognition run by  David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Being shortlisted in 2024 and winning in 2025 with Under Pressure .

For us, however, achievement is not simply about awards. We celebrate the development of confidence, imagination, technical ability and the courage to try something new.

This educational work forms an important part of the wider Rice Design philosophy: everyone has the potential to create, and creativity can make a meaningful difference to individuals and communities.
